On March 25, 2020, the Department of Labor (“DOL”) published a model notice for employers concerning the rights of employees under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (“FFCRA”).

The FFCRA requires certain employers to provide their employees with paid sick leave and expanded family and medical leave for specified reasons related to the COVID-19 virus. These provisions will apply from April 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020. Notices must be posted by April 1, 2020.

 

Each covered employer must post the notice in a conspicuous place on its premises. An employer may satisfy this requirement by emailing or direct mailing this notice to employees or posting this notice on an employee information internal or external website.

 

Employers do not need to provide this notice for laid off employees. The FFCRA requirements explained on this notice apply only to current employees.
