Just before midnight on June 30, 2011, Governor John Kasich signed into law House Bill 153. This law repeals the Ohio Estate Tax for individuals who die after January 1, 2013. This will also apparently mean that there will be no tax due on QTIP Elections made where the surviving spouse dies after January 1, 2013. We are following the details closely and will keep you updated as more is known.
